What is the difference between German/English fingerings and Baroque fingerings?

English fingerings are the same as Baroque fingerings. German fingerings are different because one of the holes is much smaller. The main difference is for the note F (on a soprano or tenor recorder). On a Baroque/English fingering recorder, the 3rd and 4th fingers of the right hand should be down (covering holes) while in German fingering recorders they should be up (holes uncovered).

There is a very precise fingering chart for recorder at top of this forum page. It shows different fingering for german and baroque models. Why not look at it ?
