hello, I can get a Gemeinhardt 3s flute for 400 $. Would that be a good deal? It is 10 years old but in good condition, has no damages and has recently been repadded.
Iīm playing flute for 7 years now and Iīm looking for a flute between intermediate and professional, but I have very little money.
Iīm from germany and gemeinhardt is nearly unknown in our country. Is it a good brand?

It is a pretty popular model in america. At least in florida. Now can you answer my question?

Yes that is a good brand, but I dont know of any good intermediate flute that would sell for $400 especially not for a profssional. Its really up to you, I havent seen the flute ovbiously, but If you think it looks good and maybe you might even want to try it out first then $400 is a good deal. Also is the Gemeinhardt 3s cosidered as a intermediate/professional? It will usually say what it is. Another good brand is Yamaha, which all I have is yamaha instruments.

on the gemeinhardt homepage iīve read that it is an intermediate flute. but it seemed to be the best of gemeinhardtīs intermediate flutes because it is the only flute that has a solid silver headjoint, body and foot.

At the moment I have a Yamaha 311 SII but I donīt really like this flute because the sound isnīt really nice. the only advantage is that it is very easy to play. but it always sounds the same and the tones are a bit "flat".

Another reason why I want a new flute is that my Yamaha has closed holes and the Gemeinhardt has open holes.

I agree with ClArInEtMaN- Gemeinhardts are definitely better! I've had a Gemeinhardt since I started playing flute, and I love it! When I took it in to the shop to fix a small dent, they gave me a Yamaha to use temporarily, and that was the worst I'd ever played!

Thanks for your answers!

Iīve bought the flute and I think it was a good deal! Itīs a bit difficult to get used to the new headjoint and the open hole keys, but I already like the new flute!

I think Gemeninhart is a good brand it has a good pitch and everything. But what really matters is how you like it if it feels good if you like the pitch. And you might want to try other brands and see what brand fits you the best and of course look for a good price range. Hope this Helps! Good luck! Hope you like America!

Susie that is the best brand of flutes there is and I'm sorry that the type isn't common in Germany. I have a thirty year old Gemeinhart and I've only been playing for 4 years and it still sounds like it's brand new.
