hi everyone. well i've been playing clarinet for about 2 years and i don't feel too comfortable with playing it and i think i want to go into tenor sax. can somebody tell me if this will be an easy transition and if it will be harder or not and all the stuff. thanks

It's easy enough to go from clarinet to sax, but you will find that your embouchure is too tight! After all that practise at tightening it up, you'll find that you now have to learn to loosen up. You'll have problems getting the really low notes. If you're reasonably proficient at the clarinet, you should be able to play the basic two scales of the tenor sax within about twenty minutes of practice. But the low and high notes will take a good bit longer - a week or two.
You'll also find that the sax is very heavy - you're depending on a neck strap. This can take a lot of getting used to.
If you play by ear, you'll find the basic two octave scale of the sax a lot more limiting than the three octaves on the clarinet. There are higher notes on both, but they're tricky to get.

Frankly, if you're worried about the band parts being too fast or whatever, saxophone won't save you there. If you're uncomfortable with playing the clarinet, saxophone won't really solve your problems. However, if you do like the sound of a saxophone, and would like to play one, then it's a different story. I would suggest taking lessons, whichever instrument you play.

Sometimes just switching is fun, but if you dont like clarinet you might get tired of sax in a few years- but then again, if you like the instrument itself, you might not. I just started tenor myself 3 days ago after playing (in addition to!) the flutes and double reed instruments. It doesn't seem that hard to me, but make sure you have a good sax!!! on one I play fine, squeaked ONCE in 30 minutes, and on another squeaked like every two notes.
