 hi,
i play the clarinet in band (6 years). And I want to play the flute for the orchestra at my church (I know how to play it, but not the best at it). And I am planning on playing the flute at my church for a long time. So what kind of flute should I get: Open Hole or Closed hole?

Its really just a preference. I play on an Open hole because I like the feel better. Most open hole flutes are Intermediate or Pro flutes but in rare cases you can find a student open hole flute. If you are not the best at the flute yet I recoment that you get student flute first just to get you on your feet with it. The student models are also alot cheaper. Hope this helps.

you can still get a good sound out of both. personally i think the open hole ones just look cool and feel good but yeah as steven king said, it's just up to you and what you prefer. if i were you i'd get a closed-hole then get good at the flute then sell that one then buy an open-hole or something like that.

Thanks! I think I will start off with a Yamaha 221 closed hole flute for $416. Then later when I get good, sell it then get an open hole.
THANKS AGAIN!

If you are a beginner then i would sudgest closed hole.
A professional flutist plays with open holes.
