what is hard rubber? what is ebonite? what is ... well i know what plastic is? is ebonite hard rubber or is it plastic. i have seen a bundy clarinet labeled ebonite but it was clearly plastic. do/can they make clarinets out of hard rubber?

Hard rubber can look exactly like plastic but it isn't. Most professional mouthpieces are made from hard rubber and are just as shiney as the plastic ones. So visually you can't tell the difference.
Ebonite is just an advertising name. I believe it referred to hard rubber but am not 100% sure.
If ebonite was printed on the mouthpiece, it refers ONLY to the mouthpiece not the clarinet. If it was printed on the clarinet body, then it refers to the clarinet.
Yes clarinets have been made of hard rubber but I do not know if the Bundy model ever was or not.

just to clarify, the Bundy clarinets were made out of reson, hard rubber and ebonite was not used in it's production. and Ebonite is hard rubber. hope this helps.
