 High c to D trill(Help..alternate fingering)
Author: Kim

Does anyone know an alternate fingering for High(altissimo register) C to D trill. Is there only one way to finger it...or is there an alternate fingering which would make the transition easier?

Telling us what instrument your talking about would probably help. I assume it's not oboe, or I would make suggestions.

If it is clarinet you are talking about, use the standard fingering for C (Register key and Thumb only), then tril the second side key beside your right index finger.

For an excellant table of fingerings for clarinet trills, get a copy of the Rubank Advanced Volume I and/or Volume II. The chart is in about the middle of the book and gives specific fingerings to use for what would otherwise be awkward trills.

to trill from c to d use the c fingering and use the 3rd side key. you actually number them going up. 2nd from top, 3rd from bottom

If it is a Flute you are talking about there is only one finguring. Fingure High C and trill the low trill key the one that is closest to the D# key on the right hand that is in between the two keys.
