 on-line methods help

After 8 years as a school counselor, I've gone back to teaching music, only instead of choral (which is my specialty), I'm teaching band/choir 7-12. The kids I get in 7th grade band have very limited skills learned in elementary. I'm finding it has been too many years since I graduated college (19) to remember everything in my methods classes, especially since I've not taught band for 16 years. To make matters worse, when I quit teaching band, I put my books in storage and now they can't be found. Is there any place on-line where I can find methods/tips/ etc. without buying more books?

I Reccoment for the 7th graders to use the method book you can get from music stors. Some of these are, Tone and Technique By. James D. Ployhar and George B. Zepp this book has Chorales and Etudes. I Recommend By James D. Ployhar this book is a Complete Warm-Up Technique Book Designed to Improve Fundamental Musicianship. 14 Weeks to a Better Band by Roger Maxwell this book is a Unison approach for reading improvement. Last but not Least Acent on Achievement By. John O'Reilly and Mark Willams this book is a chomrehensive band method that develops creativity and musicianship. I hope this has been some help for you. Sorry that I don't know any online methods. But it is a good idea to look.

The Essential Elements series (published by Hal Leonard) is an extremely successful method book. It comes in three levels (the beginning Purple Book, the intermediate Green book, and the advanced Black book), but is mostly for elementary bands. The advanced book is very suitable for 7th and possibly even 8th graders.
