If you have a piece of Alto Sax music and you want to write it out to be played on a Tenor Sax, you must:

Change the key by adding one sharp to the key signature or removing one flat: Key of C becomes Key of G. Key of Bb become Key of F.

Move all the notes up by four steps: (an interval of a fifth): C becomes G, D becomes A, E becomes B and so on.

What Eoin was saying is if you're going from Tenor to Alto. Just flip it around for Alto to Tenor. If you have something in G for alto, it becomes C for tenor. C for alto becomes F for tenor.

Everything is moved up an interval of a fourth going one direction and an interval of a fifth going the other.
