 Growling/ Rasping

I'm trying to growl and/or rasp on the bari that I'm using right now, and for some reason i can't quite get the notes out. However, I am able to growl/rasp just fine on my alto and tenor, so I am just wondering if its something different about the way the bari is made, or if it just takes alot more practice and support than for the smaller saxes.
