 student flutes

It has only been 16 years since I was taking flute lessons for 6th grade band. (Ha ha!) I picked up a "Heimer" flute in a thrift store the other day and decided to relearn. However, I notice that the fingering charts on this site are for concert flutes? Does anyone have info on fingering charts for the novice style instrument...(or maybe a way to translate these charts) That would be so nice...

Just ignore the low B in the Boehm flute fingering chart on Sneezy.

I hope you are not confusing a recorder with the "real" flute. The recorder is a more simple instrument with tone holes and no keys, whereas the real flute is held horizontally and has key pads on which you depress. A "concert flute" is basically any flute in the key of C, with numerous different brands and options to choose from as well as quality of the instrument. Most student instruments lack some optional keys and are usually of lesser quality.

Hope this helps
