ok well i want to know if this is just me or some weird proven fact.
i started to learn the tenor sax about ... 5 months ago... 3 months ago i had to stop because i got too busy and i couldnt switch yet. my band teacher wants me to switch now and i hadnt touched a sax in about 3 months.
i got a school horn to see if i could remember anything and just try to run through our contest music...and i had actually improved since then and my tone was amazing. i could play everything that i couldnt 3 months ago.
is this normally what happens after 3 months of not playing or am i just special?

Actually it is more likely that since you weren't expecting much, you relaxed and thus were able to do things that gave you problems before. Too much tension causes all kinds of problems such as bad tone, ragged rhythm, and so on. Relax and some of these problems immediately improve.
