Hey, im a bass clarinet player, and im wondering how much all you guys bought your contras. I am looking deperately for one, that is a straight model, that is cheap. And i was also wondering if it has the same fingerings as the bass clarinet and regular Bb clarinet. If you could e-mail me back, that would be nice.

Yes the Contra Bass Clarinet is fingered the same way as the Standard Soprano Clarinet. Contra's start at about $5,000.00 and up. You can probably find a used one on Ebay.. because it would be kinda hard trying to find a used one with out paying a lot of money for it.. so try ebay anyway.. Also Contra Bass Clarinets come in two keys.. BBb Contra Bass Clarinet; and EEb Contra Alto Clarinet.. I hope this helps.

My friend plays a Contra-alto, he said it was VERY expensive. I looked it up on www.wwbw.com, and an okay one was about 4,000 bucks. (i think that was for a new one) i reccomend buying a used one if u wanna save money.
