The only advice I can give you without spending countless hours searching for solos myself is to check out the website of Charles Gray, classical baritone saxophonist (sounds weird doesn't it?). I haven't really checked it out, but I am sure he has at least SOME info on music there.

many bari players steel alto literature...however the Fasch Sonata (originally for bassoon) is perfect for bari (though transcribed w/ the intent that it would be played on alto) as it WAS a basson piece. Also look for Bach cello suites transcribed for bari. Much alto literature works well on bari, Eccles sonata, Bozza aria/ improv et caprice/ pulcinella/ scaramouche, there is a sonata by Ron Caravan written for bari. Also some litterature by Walter Hartley, try www.dornpub.com they have indexes by instrument. Also www.classicsax.com.

I played a solo a while back called "Ritual and Celebration" I don't remember who published, or wrote it though. I just steal Alto or Bassoon solos though.

I THINK NOT. ALTO MAY BE MORE PLAYED THAN BARITONE, BUT LET ME AS YOU THIS...CAN YOUR ALTO PUMP OUT A NICE, FOGHORN-SOUNDING, WINDOW-RATTLING LOW Bb(CONCERT C#)?????? I DIDNT THINK SO!!!! ALSO, IS YOUR INSTRUMENT 40 INCHES TALL AND HAS A BELL THAT CAN ALMOST SWALLOW A CLARINET WHOLE?????? I DIDNT THINK SO. TENOR/BARI SAXES PLAYERS ARE WILLING TO GO OUT OF THERE COMFORT ZONE AND PLAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WE ARE THE BEST!!!!

you could just transcript it off of a tenor Sax. Just ask someone ( like your band teacher) to help you. I do it all the time. Or just ask local band or jazz teachers to look for some music. I`m sure you`ll find something good. Good luck on that.

I've been looking for some pieces too. It's hard to find bari solos. I did one this year but it had a piano accump. I thought it was ok but too easy. Are you from the chicago area? I go to school at Central. I'm a junior now and won't give up the sax for nothin! I'd ask your teacher for help.

yeah, don't get me wrong, Bari kicks ass and all, but I have a lot of respect for alto and tenor players. we all started off on alto, and the we heard our calling, but there are a lot of alto players out there who are phenominal. tenors too. a good bari player is hard to come by these days though, so thats why it is hard to find the music. I'm thinking the same thing this year, solo and ensemble. I'll find something, but its gonna take time. so don't get to impatient, just look around. a lot of music stores carry bari solo books. also, If you'll remember the good old muppet show, there was a bari in there band who played the opening theme and a lot of other stuff, so, as childish as it sounds, look for muppet music.
