For the 23 years I have been playing clarinet I have been using Vandoren reeds, #3 for most of the time. These have done me very well, with perhaps the odd 'duff' one in a box. However, in the last couple of years or so I have been lucky if more than 3 or 4 reeds in a box have been any good. Does anyone have any similar experience, or know if there has been any change at Vandoren? Or is it me? Last time I needed reeds I bought a different brand entirely!

In the past few years, I also used Vandoren Reed and found that only 3 or 4 reeds were good too. I switch to Rico Grand Concert Reed since last year and nearly every reed in a box of ten are usable in my playing.

plastic reeds work well, if you can get used to them and since i used vandorens, i made a switch, but to platic reeds and once you get a grip, they all work well.

well, I have found the same, but am still looking for an alternative. I find that plastic reeds just don't cut it. bad tone quality, and a whole assortment of other music related problems. I'm still searching, but If I find something, I'll let you know.
