Hi everyone,
I received this 6 hole glass flute, it is in the key of D. I am a flute player but the fingerings from what I am use to seam to be missing alot. It's sappose to play simmilar to an Irish flute. Does anyone play this type and could you tell me where I would find the fingerings.
Thanks
Angela

The Irish flute has a very simple fingering system. It is the same as the Irish tin whistle. Here, 1 2 and 3 are the fingers of the left hand, 4, 5 and 6 are the fingers of the right hand. An o represents an open hole.
D 1 2 3 4 5 6 first octave
E 1 2 3 4 5 o
F# 1 2 3 4 o o
G 1 2 3 o o o
A 1 2 o o o o
B 1 o o o o o
C# o o o o o o
D o 2 3 4 5 6 second octave
E 1 2 3 4 5 o
F# 1 2 3 4 o o
G 1 2 3 o o o
A 1 2 o o o o
B 1 o o o o o
C# o o o o o o
D o 2 3 4 5 6 third octave
The semitones are got by half covering holes. Here, H represents a half-covered hole.
D#/Eb 1 2 3 4 5 H
F 1 2 3 4 H o
G#/Ab 1 2 H o o o
A#/Bb 1 H o o o o
C H o o o o o
That's all there is to it.

The Woodwind Fingering Guide now has a fingering chart for Tin Whistle. This will work for any six hole flute. Just click on the word Instruments on the menu on the left side of this screen. If you haven't got a brown/maroon menu showing, go to the following link:
