 clarinet tremolo

How do you do a clarinet tremolo on one pitch - a la string instruments? We're doing a transcription of Hanson's Sym. #2 in our Wind Symphony that requires all clarinets from 1sts down to basses to use tremolo. Again, this isn't a rapid alternation between two distinct pitches, but a true tremolo - only one sounding pitch.

Help!

Thanks!

Would flutter tonguing be any use? This is where you flutter your tongue in the same way as when you "roll your r's" in italian, spanish and other romance languages.

This sounds like it may be a form of vibrato. Lip/jaw vibrato would give a variation in pitch so perhaps it may be "diaphragm" vibrato, which gives a variation in intensity. Don't ask me how to do it though as I don't know how. Try to find a book that was written by Keith Stein. I believe that's where I read about the various types of vibrato and how to produce them.
