i got this thing in the mail...
It says that on Jan 5th, there's going to be a clarinet day with master classes by david krakauer, charles neidich, and mark nuccio. Anyone know anything about this?
There has never been any "clarinet days" or "clarinet fests" in my area before. so this is kinda neat. but i'm a junior in high school, so what should i expect?
what exactly happens in a master class?

Usually, in a masterclass a student will play for the teacher. It is very much like a lesson, except that the other students who are not playing are sitting and watching! The student will bring a prepared piece, usually a solo or etude and play. Afterwords, the teacher will offer advice, etc. If I were you, I would certainly go. All three of the teachers are good at what they do and I imagine that these masterclasses will be quite informative. Mannes itself is a good school. If you are wanting to play orchestral excerpts, I would try and play for Nuccio. If you need technique advice, I would suggest Krakauer.

I'll be there - listening, not playing. Phorum participants should get together.
