Well, how did the auditions go guys? We have been hearing about them for so long, we are all dying to find out if you both got in the college you were auditioning for!

I won't know until before christmas. I have never had to do scales for any audition in the past, and it wasn't until when I was in a warm up room that I thought "hang on, are they going to ask me scales"....so I madly started practicing some, and my accompanist said they won't ask me any. But knowing my luck, they did and I wasn't happy with the way I played them, but it was ok. My pieces went well - (Spohr 1 1st movement from memory, Sutermeister Cappricio, and Polachek study). I was most worried about the study, and it turned out to be the best on the day. Aural was good, although I'm, not sure about the singing side of it. They asked me to sing something...anything. I couldn't think what to sing, so one of them says "just sing the opening of the mozart concerto" so I did, and it went a little low for me...I guess I started in the wrong range. But it was still in tune. The interview was really good. They were speaking to me as if I was already in (but don't quote me on that). It was as though they were just sorting out the finer details, like talking to me about which teacher would suit me best, and sending all my results from my current university to prove I've passed so I can apply for extra credit. They also agreed that I would be best off going into either 2nd or 3rd year, so I found that encouraging, but I could be completely wrong. I think I gave all the right answers about why I want to transfer there, and 2 of the 3 auditioners already knew my situation from when we met and discussed it a couple of months ago. When it was over, they asked if I had any questions. I said "well, no, but I've been speaking to Tim (morrigan) and he told me all these questions to prepare to be asked." They found that humorous, and said they adapt for each auditionee depending on the individual situation.

Mine was just as interesting and eventful!
In the warm-up room, with my accompanyist, we played through Weber Concertino (from memory), and I'd seriously never sounded better!
Then, for no reason at all, I *dropped* my clarinet, bending the RH Eb key! I pushed everything back into place and it worked fine.

I did the Weber with only one small hitch, then my study. Then I played the Arnold Fantasy, also from memory.
I sight-read and clapped a rhythm - both went fairly smoothly, although I had to stop once or twice. They didn't ask me for any Aural work, as they've already heard me.

The interview went very well, they seemed to like what I was saying, and I didn't babble on like last time.

I wanna say thanks to everyone here who helped me on the way, your words of wisdom were taken on, discussed with my teacher, then applied and used in the audition.

Thanks to all this, I called my teacher about an hour ago and found out I got in! This is unofficial, and I was told not to tell anyone, but I'm so happy with it I just had to tell everyone here!

Once again, thanks SOOOO MUCH to everyone! Especially Tony Pay, who told me the Weber "plays itself", and Greg Smith, for teaching me to "serve the composer"!

As if getting in is hard enough... Now the real hard work begins.

Thanks guys! =] =] =] <-- THREE smiles for you all!
