It could be any number of things. Missing pads, misaligned keys. have you played clarinet in the past? Bundy is a student line of the Selmer company and it may not have been very well taken care of.

Don't give up on it yet! Take it down to your instructor or a good tech and have them check it out. I have seen just too many young students give up, thinking they had no talent, when all along it was problems with the instrument.

If you're a beginner (This may sound sarcastic to some on the board but it's meant in all honesty and I'VE SEEN IT ADRESSED!). Make sure you have a good reed. If you have one, make sure you have it aligned on your mouthpeice correctly, wedge up.

The responses to your post so far are very good, Kathy, but, with the information you've given, it's about as far as anyone can go with what you've given. If you don't have someone nearby who can help you with this it would be very helpful if you could describe exactly what you're doing to get the horn to make a sound. Then maybe someone here can talk you through some steps to take to improve the situation
Try the above suggestions first. If it still doesn't work, come back. Best wishes and please keep communicating. We'll try our best to help you.

Kathy,
Since you have never played, definitely get some one more experienced to show you how to assemble the instrument and how to blow. Also have them try to play it. The horn might need work or you may simply be doing something wrong.
