I am just wondering whether anyone else notices a kind of muffled noise when they use any keys with cork pads. Only some of my pads are cork and I definitely notice a different kind of sound when I open any of these corked pad holes.
Examples are C#/G# key, B/F# key. I believe they were corked as these keys are susceptible to leakage.

I'm getting my pads corked right now. "Betty" is in the shop right now getting all cork pads in the upper stack (I believe that's the terminology they used). I was told it was to prevent leakage and absorb moisture. But I'll repost it once I get it back and try it. If you wanna hear my opinion, look back on Friday. I'll post it Thursday night.

The tone will be muffled if the venting is not adequate. It may be nothing to do with the material of the pads.

yeah, I have cork, and after about 2 years, I have started to get this, coz they have become too deeply seated.

HI-
Corks are generally thicker and ae seated a little higher, see if your repairman is able to bevel them down. My guy beveled down to where the widest part just barely passes the width of the actual hole, this helps SO MUCH!!!
