I've just come from a concert given by the French clarinettist Romain Guyot of the Paris Opera.
A mostly standard programme (Poulenc, Messiaen, Messager, Boulez, Brahms F min.) was splendidly performed with great panache and particularly admirable control in pianissimo passages (especially l'abime) Definitely a player worth listening out for.
Even better, the event was sponsored by Rico and I managed to get my hands on some of my favourite sort of reeds........FREE ones.
Actually the Grand Concert Evolution are a brand I've never tried before and they don't seem too bad. I've never liked Rico much in the past, but these seem possibly usable. Has anyone any experience of spending some time with them?

Last time I heard John Bruce-Yeh (Chicago Symphony Orchestra assistant principal) he was playing--and recommending--Rico GC reeds, and sounding great. If you have never heard him play, you should do yourself a favor and pick up one of his CDs. He has a recording of the Nielson that is technically flawless--at least to my ears.
Personally, I have tried the Rico Grand Concert reeds and thought they were ok--had I taken more time to work with them, I think they would have been as good as any other pro level commercial reed.

Jez-
A few months ago I switched to Grand Concert Evolution reeds at the suggestion of my new teacher. I had been playing on Vandoren V12s for 10 years or so. I haven't played a Vandoren since I switched. I'm very, very happy with the Evolutions. In my experience so far, I have found them to be more consistent than any other make and I use more reeds out of every box. They sounds great. I still have days that I want to take all of my reeds and put them through the "wall test," but those days are fewer and further between. Enjoy.

Romain Guyot is actually endorsing Rico Grand Concert reeds (well Rico sponsors him, let's put it that way), so I assume he was playing those during his performance. I've tried the Grand Concert, and I too must confess I was favorably impressed.

Does anybody know why Zonda doesn't make e-flat reeds? I would like to find something with a similar cut and width.
