Need help in ascertaining the age of a Selmer Paris bass clarinet
I picked up in an estate sale recently. This instrument is a wood, low Eb, has a numeral 3 on the neck of the bell and the serial
number is D 4941. This horn will need a complete overhaul and a new case. No cracks or pins are apparent. Have been unable to find anything from the Selmer web sites. Can anyone help?

The Selmer ser # list which I have as the same as here in "How Old Is My". I have a Sel-Paris Alto cl in the B series , which I believe is an early 1980, SO ??. Could your series be a P or an O, 50's/40's? If you can describe the structure a bit, I'll compare with my W bass, as others may do to help date it. Luck, Don

I have an "N" series low Eb Selmer purchased new in 1950. I'm the second owner. It has a one-piece neck and an in-line register key. You might also want to search compelete auctions on eBay for photos of vintage Selmers.
