Alexandre clarinet with Acousticut 4 mpc

I just bought an Alexandre Paris clarinet with a brand new W.C. Sumner Acousticut #4 mouthpiece. Everything appears to be O.K. EXCEPT the mouthpiece tennon is too large and will not fit into the barrel. The mouthpiece is 0.887" on the rubber tennon, 0.906" on the cork, with a bore is 0.490". The barrel ID for the tennon is about 0.875" with a bore of 0.580"

What this boils down to is the mouthpiece tennon is .015-.020" too large. So what should I do? Is the Alexandre or the Acousticut worth much? Should I just try to get a mouthpiece that fits or reduce the mouthpiece tennon size. Would the 0.010" difference in bore diameters make any difference in tone?

I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, or condolences.

The Sumner is not a great mouthpiece, so, in my opinion, you would be better off to get another mouthpiece. The Sumner was not original equipment with the Alexandre, so don't worry about authenticity.
