Van Doren says that both have a tip opening of 1.195 mm, and a facing length of 21.5 mm. What's the difference? Chamber? What? (It's not "profile".)
Thanks,

It's supposed to be the shape of the chamber. The dot's a little bigger, I believe, according to their description. I find my dot to be much less resistant than my plain 45...

I'm quite a beginner, but I've tried both. The B45 dot is much freer blowing and perhaps darker. Or it could be that I haven't the technique to bring out the same qualities in the B45. But it is fuller and easier to blow.

Just try them. They are so inconsistent anyway. Do a blind test and work out which plays the best.

I gotta try the dot. I just did a comparison test of some Portnoys, Kaspar *, and some others and came back to my B45 immediately.
