GBK I read your posts about the gonzalez reeds and I took your advise to try them out and I must say that they are great reeds!
The sound that I had is pretty similar to when I play on the Vandorens #4s, but they gave me this very unique ring that I never was able to achieve with use the vandorens, and most of the reeds except for two of them which I had to adjust a little where excellent. I found that the 4 1/2 strengh work best for my Hawkins mouthpiece.

Lee...I've been my writing positive comments about Gonzalez reeds for almost a year. Many of my professional colleagues have also permanently switched over - so I am not alone in my enthusiasm.
I'm happy you've had as much success with them as I have, and hope you continue to experience the joy of a truly "no hassle" quality reed.
I feel that we can finally spend our time on music making, and not fretting weekly (daily, hourly) over reeds...GBK

Are the Gonzalez reeds similar in cut to Vandoren V12s? I would like to try them, but my concern is that they will be too similar to blue box Vandorens. My mouthpiece works well with V12s, but not the blue box.

I think that the cut of the Gonzalez reeds reminds me very much of the way the old Morré reeds used to feel.

I'm pretty sure this has been answered before, but am I to understand that the Gonzalez FOFs run about 1/2 strength softer that the VDs? If I were to play VD 3 1/2s, I'd want the Gonzalez 4s? I'm just about ready to order a box from WWBW.

I think the Gonzalez run (at most) 1/4 strength softer. Therefore, I'd suggest both Gonzalez 3 1/2 and Gonzalez 3 3/4 to see which feels better...GBK
