I took the plunge and bought a Leblanc LL A clarinet that didn't meet the reserve on eBay. The seller owns an instrument repair shop and has given me all types of assurances that it's a great horn; with Leblanc serial #'s hard to track as they are, he estimates it was manufactured in the mid-70s. Still it's unnerving buying something like this sight unseen, save for the pictures on eBay. It arrives this week. Wish me luck.

Assurances that you could return it after an inspection period would have been better. The "LL" is a nice instrument and probably will be a good player for you. I've been bitten a couple of times myself this way so I always ask about return options. People in the business are more reliable, of course, than the regular eBay population that doesn't have in idea of what anything is on a clarinet. Good luck.
