Has anyone heard of a 'Steubing' brand clarinet? It is a resonite B-flat.
Thank you.

Ah, the majestic resonite tree... the African savannah was once teeming with them...
There are good resonite clarinets. This isn't one of them.
BTW, is it spelled Steuben, Steubing, Stueben...?
Here's a thread for ya:

This is one of many mainland Chinese imports flooding music stores.
Be advised, most repair shops are now refusing to service these.
(They never play well.)
When shopping for your first clarinet, RENT for 3 months.
After you (or the player) decide to continue, look into the archives herein for good beginner gear recommendations.
Lastly.... a shiny finish and fancy keys do not make any sound.

Synonymous: I've been told that the Steuben (however it's spelled) is from Taiwan. But whichever, Taiwanese or from the PRC, the instrument is no better. It's intriguing to me that the advertising says "German Clarinet," but the fine print says "German engineered." Oops.
SStanley, I do not believe anyone on this BB would recommend one of those. I would be glad to see words from anyone who has an opposing view. I have never personally seen or played one, so my opinion is based on reports rather than my personal experience.
Regards,
John
