Generally I play around 442 consistently. For some reason I have done this for the last few years. I have very standard equipement... R13's, Chadash 66mm, brannenized... so i figure it must be my mouthpiece and my conception of pitch. I play on a Richard Hawkins "B" series. Are these sopposed to be tunned a little higher? Personally I love my mouthpiece, its just great for me and usually would never consider getting another one ever.. but i really need something @ 440 for chamber stuff I do outside of orchestra because in Chicago despite everything else, our pianos are still still at 440.

If you're really comfotable with the mp, how about trying a 67mm Chadsh barrel and perhaps a half mm ring in the middle joint. Worked for me.

A is 440, and Ab is 415, so there's 25 Hz per half step at that level, or 4 cents per Hz. Bringing down the pitch by 8 cents is not a major adjustment -- pull out a millimeter or so at the barrel, add a tuning ring, and you should be right at 440. If you're anal about it, get a longer barrel, but I'd much rather have the flexibility up.
Best regards.

A 440 is still the standard pitch in the USA. As a player of the oboe, I don't understand why anyone would try to play above the standard pitch except to tune to other instruments as needed. The commonly used Loree oboe in the USA is tuned to 440 and it doesn't want to play much higher. If your oboe player pinches up to a 442 for the tuning note, it is likely that their pitch while playing is not as good as it could be with a stable reed ringing out a 440. It is my view that conductors that require 442 tuning in an orchestra are not professional. If I gave a 442 tuning note, I would be shot!
While flutes are nominally made at 442 today to permit their sale in Europe as well as the USA, flutists need also to hang around 440. Bassoonists really get unhappy with high pitch clarinet players and try to diplomatically get them to play nominally at 440. There are some mouthpieces for the clarinet that are sharper or flatter than others and one can always find shorter or longer barrels as needed. Good luck!
