???
What is that? A clarinet? A saxophone? what?
If I had $250, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Ted,
I remember this unique Linton nickel-silver contrabass clarinet appearing on Ebay a while back. The current seller appears to have taken pains to conceal the nature of the keywork in his photos, which I recall was saxophone-like, but to me, the keywork was part of the uniqueness and charm of this beautiful instrument.
Another thing I remember was that this contra clarinet had a truly enormous and wonderful mouthpiece, which if I believe had been photographed with a Pepsi can for scale. They were about the same size...
The current owner did not appreciate what he bought, I guess...and that's why he's selling.
But why, oh why did he do this: There has been an ABSOLUTELY TRAGIC MUTILATION OF THAT POSSIBLY UNIQUE "PEPSI CAN" MOUTHPIECE. The beak of the original mouthpiece was HACKED OFF, converting it into a TENON SLEEVE for what appears to be a plastic bass clarinet mouthpiece.
If the guy wanted to use a smaller mouthpiece, why not get a tenon sleeve made from some PVC some cork, and some teflon tape? He destroyed a possibly extremely valuable and one-of-a-kind mouthpiece for a possibly one-of-a-kind instrument. DISGUSTING.
Thanks for the alert; hopefully the guy left the rest of the horn alone!
Regards,
Patrick
