I have become the owner of a Howarth of London clarinet. From the serial number I have ascertained that it is an S2 model, build in 1996.
Does anyone have any more information about this make and model of instrument? (e.g. what type of music is it most suitable for? up to what standard of playing would it be suitable? etc.?)

14.75mm bore.
Nice 10-10-ish sounding instrument. I've only seen / heard 1. A guy in my wind band has a pair. (Not sure what model).
Anyway, they are very classily made, and classical / orchestral sounding, but with the clout to cut through in a band.
Small volume, nearer hand- than factory- made. You're probably half way between a notmal clarinet and an Eaton.
Howarth's shop itself is very olde worlde yet hi-tech, and is one of the few places you can go and the people know what they're talking about.

Among discerning players in New Zealand they are up there Eatons, Buffets, Selmers, Yamahas.
Classier standard of manufacture that Buffets & Selmers, both of which seem to have regrettable laxity in quality control.

Many thanks for replies. I got some info from the Howarth website and more by e-mailing the company.
