This comes up every six months or so on ebay, doesn't it?

I wouldn't mind buying one if I had money though. It'd be a nice addition to the family. Though my neighbors wouldn't like it...

David - thanks, I've been around. I'm working (yech) a four day week - so I'm only online Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (Australian time). Obviously, I'm "working" heard and fitting my BB peaking in during my coffee break and lunch hour (clears throat and feels guilty about being dishonest).

This horn has been on ebayfor a month. The original mimimum was $18,000. USA Horn has also listed a bass sax for a month also. Neither horn has been sold despite some spirited bidding. The Ebb contra sax is a make and new keywork (threee octave keys) that is unusal. Arthur

What is the nonsense about a "narrow bore for less air consumption"? A narrow bore may have some sort of advantage, but nothing to do with less air consumption. The only instrument I know of that needs to be filled with air to play it is a bagpipe.

Yes indeed, Don, and in the wild - if you see a bagpipe scuttling around jump on it ... they give off a terrific "popping" sound.
