Hi all,
I have heard that Guy Chadash has started making mouthpiece blanks.
Did any of you have had the chance to look at them?
On his web site he has pictures but no information. I think it's a collaborative work with Chirs Hill.
Let me know if you have heard of them, I'm very curious...

He did make mouthpieces a few years back, but I believe that he put that aside for a while to focus on making clarinets. Interesting...

He and Chris Hill have collaborated their info to construct a copy of the old "Chedeville" blank. It is supposively an exact copy from the best original blanks, he even had the old rod rubber material copied too. Who knows if they're good. I for one believe in the theory, "Let sleeping dogs lie". Why reincarnate these old dead and buried legends?

Considering how expensive the original Cheds go on ebay then I can understand why a good business man would want to produce an exact replica.
If they actually succeeded think about what those mouthpieces could become after a good facing job...
I can't wait to try one!

I'm glad to see the interest! Guy and I have a few samples out, and are hoping for production to start soon. Some of the people who trying them now are Eli Eban, Dan Gilbert, Bob Crowley, and John Wegand.
The reason we are making these is because neither of us were satisfied with the newer moulded blanks, and the old ones that many of us like are too expensive for many people. Why should someone who likes the way these older mouthpieces play need to spend more for their mouthpiece than they do for their clarinet?
Feel free to contact me off-list for more information. I don't want to go in to too much detail, because I don't want this to become an advertisement.
