Dear people, I would like to ask if any of you plays or has played a Leblanc Spirit (Bb). What do you think about this model? If I am not mistaken there must be two models around, one with adjustable thumbrest and silver plated keys, all wood, and another model without these special features and with resotone woodlike bell and barrel. Could anyone tell me if I am correct and if there is more information on this instrument. The Leblanc customer service was not very helpfull. In advance many thanks! Hans

This model is a lovely clarinet - I recently took one for a "test drive" and was very happy. It's not the top of the line model, but I found its intonation and keywork very secure - and it's tone over the break was great.

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you play the model with adjustable thumbrest and silver plated keys? Is this model indeed all wood? In some older messages I read that it is comparable to the Noblet although in the Leblanc list it is mentioned higher up the line, I do not know if this means that it is better. It all depends on the player, I guess. Thanks again!

LeBlanc lists it as an <i>intermediate model</i> in their catalog, just above the Noblet line.

Leblanc also makes the "Esprit" model which is rated as an entry-level pro model. My Esprit (a C horn) has the adjustable thumbrest and silver plated keys. I don't believe the "Spirit" model comes with these features.

Thanks. I know the Esprit which is a better instrument than the Spirit. I was told there is a special edition Spirit which has the characteristics I mentioned above. Perhaps this instrument is comparable -as to its playing characteristics- to the Esprit. Thanks again!
