How wonderful that no matter what is going on in our lives, playing the clarinet remains a source of joy and solace.

As long as you've got a decent reed! Seriously, I've often wondered how people who don't play an instrument make it through a day....I'm getting to a point where performing isn't all that important....all I need is my clarinet and a quiet place for an hour or so to get my mind right. I'm sure all instrumentalists feel that way about their chosen instrument....but we know we play the best one!

Playing music may have saved my soul during those troublesome high school years, when so many of my schoolmates were getting into alcohol, drugs, and other kinds of trouble --- I'm thankful I was a music geek then ---- and now, in middle age, the only thing in life that brings me joy comparable to that from music, is my family. Furthermore, even when my kids are grown up and gone, I'll still have my music until it's my time to kick up daisies. I wish everyone could have something in their lives that brings them satisfaction comparable to what music brings to us!

I've had some business problems lately that will be solved by the end of summer. But to get through these trying times God and my clarinet are the only two things that let me know that everything is going to be OK. Paul

indeed. i'm in high school...and i don't know what on earth these other kids do with their time. i'm so thankful i am playing the clarinet; it is so much fun and it's quite rewarding to hear a difference that practicing can make, especially when made fun. God, family, friends, and music - all great joy bringers.

I once heard it said that God created the clarinet to teach us humility...........................OK, Everyone, sing along--Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble, When your playing the clarinet......

Good Clarineting!!! (Nice try, God, but you made the clarinet Too Good)

Diz, whatever's out there... :)

You don't have to be a believer to appreciate the value of a "good tune" and something to play it on. (Though I am a believer myself...)

I'd agree with that, I think music brings out the best and at for others the worst. It seems that the wonder of great music is my source of revitalization...
