Just a question to which I SHOULD probably already know the answer: how long is a standard (440) Bb clarinet? And how long is an old high pitch Bb? This could save me time on Ebay!
Additionally, does anyone have a source for lengths of clarinets other than Bb, specifically, other soprano clarinets (Eb, A, C, etc.)?
Thanks in advance!

I guess the clarinet's pitch also depends on the bore's size, not just length (I think)

Hi Kat,
Since you appear to be a fellow Marks' Music alum, I will try to help out ;^)
Measurements include mouthpiece:
Most Eb's that I have seen run from around 18.5 to 19 inches
Most C's seem to run around 22.5 - 23 inches
Most Bb's around 25.5 - 26 inches
Most A's around 27 - 27.5"
These are all low pitch. High pitch will be on the short side but generally not by more than a fraction of an inch. Bore size also affects the length a bit. Larger bore instruments will tend toward the long end of the range.
Full Boehm instruments (which range to low Eb) are considerably longer. A Bb can be 27" or longer and an A can run to around 29" if my memory serves.
Best regards,
jnk

Thanks Jack, that'll help ebaying a little! I did buy a Bb Albert from a lady in Detroit last year, and she omitted the information regarding the "H.P." on the back. I only dropped about $50, the horn needs some work, so I'm not too upset, I just wish I'd have known!
