Was in San Antonio last weekend visiting family and was please to read that Paquito D'Rivera (the Latin Jazz Clarinet & Sax player) was playing at St. Mary's College for Fiesta week. But when I got to the door to pay my $10 they told me that Paquito either had a possible stroke or heart attack the night before. Does anyone know about this? Is he OK? Paul Croshaw

I sure hope that's an inaccurate rumor. I heard him in Richmond, VA just a few weeks ago, and he was superb, playing with the Turtle Island String Quartet.
BTW, does anyone on Sneezy know what clarinet he plays? For the audience, it appeared to be rosewood or something with a reddish cast, and without tenon rings. I believe he's a Yamaha artist at present; does Yamaha make a clarinet like that?
