I play-tested a Selmer CT. It needs a few pads and regulating, but even so, oooh. It sounds good. Anybody have any experience or advise on these? After getting set up, the seller wants $750.00 for it...

I really like my Selmer CT. I have had two. The first one was incrdible (Q series), but I bought one off eBay to resell and the seller didn't realize that it had been pinned in the upper joint. I knew I could not make any money off the deal so I sold my original one and kept this one. I really don't mind pinning, but it is a big turn off to some people. It didn't play that much differently the "Q" series I originally had. This one is a "P" series. I really enjoy it a lot.

I have a CT and a France-Import [unmarked as to model] Sel-Paris of same vintage, both are excellent players, my #i's when I play along side my friends who play Sels. Otherwise, I play my LeBlanc L7, or a Full [or a partially full] Boehm if additional keys are needed for musical "comfort". A pro good friend has the newer Recital and Signature models, and also selects on the basis of music. Don

I have a Q-series CT, but rarely play it. After switching to the R13, the CT's tone holes feel like I'm putting my fingers into a bowling ball! Even so, it is an excellent instrument with a far better throat Bb and low C# than my R13.

The Centered Tone was, as I understand it, one of the most widely accepted orchestral clarinets until the introduction of the Buffet R13 and its polycylindrical bore. An awful lot of truly great players must have esteemed them highly.
