I promised a report. [EBAY] Bundy wo: logos, ser# 77024 [early?], plastic , chip in bell, case much worse than horn. Needed 1 cork, many pads and much TLC [COA], plays fair now, will work on it further, may sell it for $150 +?. [Not bad for about $60?]. Only real problem was with a bent rod for the F/C - Ab/Eb keys ?because? of no "intermediate" post for support. Will have rod straightened by my favorite repairer in Tulsa. Goldentone 3 mp, plays better with scars removed, and my refacing? Comments? Don

A line from a great old movie comes to mind:
"You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din . . . "

Another line that comes to mind:
"You can put a pig in a tuxedo, but it's still a pig..." ...GBK

Or, from the Internet Network Working Group RFC standard 1925:
1925.2 (3) With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.

TKS, Fred and GBK, [etc??], as a retiree with a bit of "Time on My Hands" [haven't heard that song lately!], I do enjoy an occasional challenge and educational experience making a " silk purse out of a sow's ear". My pleasure comes from providing an inexpensive, but playable!, clar for a newbie, seeing her/his expression on making an open G, and my playing of "76 Tmbs" on it. Makes life worthwhile. Don

Don...Actually, we're just having a little fun with your project.
You are to be commended on a very worthwhile and charitable endeavor.
...and as I said: "You can put a pig in a tuxedo, but it's still a pig", - it is fun just dressing him up...GBK

You're a man after me own heart, Don
I've done a freebie or two. Getting a newbie involved in music goes beyond monetary reward. Did you replace that middle post? I'd recommend Not letting it go like that :| I've done a few Bundys with broken out posts (pillars)- and would be happy to help you with that, if need be. You can contact me off the Board if you like.

TKS again, GBK and for the great advice, Ron, I'll discuss it with Carl McGuire [Tulsa] who also has the skills to revise that mfgr.'g poor [early] construction, well beyond me! Much fun, Don

Don has a long history of this sort of thing.
It was probably about 40 years ago that he
helped my father find a Christmas present for
me: my first wooden clarinet, a Selmer, with a fork B flat,
that had seen some use but played very nicely.
One LeBlanc and six or seven Buffets later, I'm
still playing.
(Don, Do you remember that clarinet?)

Don't waste your time trying to dress that pig. Bring him down here. I, as a good Texan, own a very large bar-b-que pit.

Good Gosh, Danny, long-long time ago! Did it come from Jay DeGeer in Tulsa? I recall having some reservations about the fork Eb/Bb [did it also have the artic. C#/G#?], Selmers were nearly the "only" clars to us Okies then! THANX for the Memories, WOW, Don

I found [and reseated] 2 pads, so now my B B plays well, just doesnt "finger" quite as well as my Sel-Paris or my Dyn 2 [big bore] LeBlanc. We are starting rehearsals for Music Man, so I was selecting mp's, barrels, reeds, ligs, may need the Dyn for its fork Eb/Bb and artic. C#/G# for the farther-out keys. FUN. Don

Ron, TKS - No broken-out posts, just no "intermediate", "supporting" post between the key-tubes, like most cls have. Got the rod AND tubes straightened and Carl recommended no major work, just tell the student to NOT "pack" books in the case and then press to close, which is prob. what happened to do the bending. BEWARE, Don
