Here is one for the oldtimers, (or old-time buffs): What is the sax that dominates the old "Wayne King the Waltz King" recordings? Is it a Soprano, C Melody, or Alto?? Most of the time I would bet on Soprano, but at times it sure sounds like an alto, (upper octave) .............
Any related info also appreciated.
Joe.

When I saw the Wayne King band at Disneyland, he was playing the alto saxophone. It was wonderfully played and I was pleasantly surprized how great it sounded after some of the comments musicians had previously made. It was probably in the middle 60's but I'm not sure of the date.

Joe...Wayne King played alto saxophone.
His band had hits in the 30's and 40's ("The Waltz You Saved For Me", "Dream a Little Dream of Me", and others) but enjoyed popularity until Wayne King died - well past the Big Band era.
