Is anyone familiar with any clarinet, violin duet pieces. If not, are there any pieces where the violin can play the part of the second instrument and still sound good?

Martin, there are Bb Clarinet/Violin duets in many publishers' catalogs, but there are many more duets for two Violins, two Clarinets, two Flutes, or even two alto or tenor saxophones. If you have a C clarinet, the solution is in hand: play any of these same-instrument duets with Clarinet and Violin, either instrument playing either part (as long as all notes are within the Violin's compass).
If you do not have a C Clarinet, you may play these same-instrument duets using your B-flat clarinet if the Violin is tuned a full-step low on all four strings. This will create, in effect, a B-flat Violin. So instead of tuning to E-A-D-G, the Violin would be tuned to D-G-C-F. If you wish, the Violin may be tuned to E-A-D-G *as played by the B-flat Clarinet*, which will give the same result. Thus the violinist will be able to play in the same positions as usual while matching the Clarinet's pitch. You might play one part in unison to see how this works. Some Violinists do not want to use non-standard tuning on their instruments, but it really is not damaging if it is tuned low (higher tuning should generally be avoided). Another solution is for one player to transpose, which is a wonderful ability to learn, but it can be confusing to less experienced players.

Kupferman, "The Garden of My Father's House"
Wm. O. Smith, "Suite"
The violin can play the flute part in duets for clarinet and flute. The two Voxman books are worth exploring. Also, I think, Rutter's "Three American Miniatures" would be fun and a crowd pleaser.
