Hi gang....
I think Ken Shaw touched on this in an unrelated thread but I never saw an answer and can't remember the thread....but....
I just acquired an old wooden Buffet MPC with the orignal wooden cap. Both in excellent conditoin but a bit dry. I oiled the cap and lightly oiled the MPC. What I need to know is the proper care of wooden MPCs. Can anyone provide some insight?
I will say, that I tried the MPC immediately and it plays like you wouldn't believe! It is excellent and one of the best if not THE best I've ever played. Thanks in advance of your answers....

I've never oiled my Gregory Smith wooden mouthpiece. It's only a year old, but I use it every day. After reading his comments again on the link he provided (above), I wouldn't recommend oiling one. I still defer to it over all others I've tried (including my Kaspars). It is simply an amazing mouthpiece--unmatched tone. I hope your buy has a nice tone and clear articulation.
However, if you have an older one--you might rub a little oil on the outside of the mouthpiece to help with some of the dryness the past has imparted to it.
