Each year in France, Musicora, the French music trade show takes place in Paris. Last year, the organizers had a wonderful idea: to gather as many musicians as possible to play the Ravel's Bolero at the show's overture. The event had a tremendous success and as many as 2171 musicians of all ages and levels signed and showed up for the performance. 40 different instruments were featured, and the clarinet was the 4th group with 146 horns (choir: 493, violin: 274, recorder: 269).
The big gathering will happen this year again on the 5th of April at 7.00 pm. The programme will be movie music composer Nino Rota with music from the Italian movies 8 1/2, La Strada, The Clowns and Amarcord. If you happen to be in Paris on that day, you should join the band or at least attend the concert. You can register at musiques@secession.fr
before the 3rd of March with "Overture concert" in subject. Hope to see you there.

Well David, I intend to play there! But I will make sure I can manage to tape it or at least see with the organizers what can be done. I'll keep you posted.

Sounds horrendous, what happens if one of the contrabassoonists gets the jitters and causes a stampede?
