When I tried first time my Chadash and Greg Smith mouthpiece, I became literally happy. It was almost ecstasy or rapture. Now I knew why those effects occured in my brain. They may make many harmonics even inaudible.

That's probably why my dog now lies down and goes to sleep while I practice my clarinet. Good Puppy!!!!!!!!

My dog thinks that my clarinet is some sort of tool for barking. He likes to do a duet.

My dog used to howl when I played the sax( i quit it) he sleeps when I play the flute, and whenever i'm playing the clari, he sits on my feet.

dogs howl not because they hate the sound, it's because the instrument in question (sax) sounds like another dog to them, and they like to sing along.
so don't feel insulted.

My dog used to howl whenever I used to play the harmonica. My cats clear out fast when I play the clarinet.
I now often use the clarinet to get rid of the cats whenever they bother me. Talk about two for the price of one!

Peter,
My cat used to run for cover when I first started playing clarinet, now he sleeps either next to me on the sofa or near my chair. Guess I should take that as a compliment ...LOL
Beer barrels will make most of us happy. :-}

Just wanted to say that "those" barrels are also probably cheaper than the clarinet variety--of course you still have to "audition" a few to get the right one.
