I have a 45 year old Noblet Paris. Wood. In what I think is in great condition. No cracks, all seems to be working. I am having new pads and corks done. Do I have a quality instrument or just a run of the mill? Is there a way to tell? Thanks for any advice.

Should be a good-quality intermediate clarinet.

I have tried a couple that are above the intermediate level. You will nevre know until you try it.

If you have one that sounds great without cracks, etc. you probably have an above average instrument. It's hard to compare clarinets that are that old. One would have to be familiar with the quality during the years that particular instrument was manufacturered.

I've owned Noblets and they're really tough clarinets. I recommend them for beginner-intermediate players all the time. It's certainly worth your investment.
