An instrument repairman told me my Evette was a Buffet R13 copy and an intermediate instrument. When I tried selling the clarinet, someone told me that there's no way it could be an R13 copy and that it must be a student model. This person never saw the instrument in question, only my advertisement. Can someone clear this up for me? Obviously, I don't want to pass off this clarinet as something it's not. The serial number is questionable too- one section has B407, the other G573. It is stamped "Evette Sponsored by Buffet - Paris, France."

You might try searching the archives here on sneezy. However if my memory is correct, the Evette was the predecessor to the Buffet E-11. So it would have been an intermediate instrument. Thus it would be difficult to consider it an R-13 copy.

It is not an R-13 copy. The Evette was a clarinet of its own. I guess you could call it a "cousin" of the R-13. There are some similarities, but, the horn would be considered an intermediate clarinet.
As far as the joints being with different numbers, that means that these parts are a consolidation of two different horns. Thus, it will be hard to get a fair price for the horn, eventhough, the horn might play well. In my experience, I feel that the Evette is a good intermediate horn. I can trust it in a concert if I have to use it in a pinch. In some rare cases, the Evette can sometimes out play an R-13 in sound and in pitch; depending on the set-up that you use.
Anyway, good luck!
