I don't like to plug eBay stuff, but perhaps someone might miss this one, same as I almost did. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=1476429053 seems to be an Albert (with the "Patent" F#/c# mechanism), but it's hard to see everything in the pictures. Might be a simple system. Anyway, description says it's marked "LP" over a letter "D." I wrote the seller, and he responded that exclusive of mouthpiece, it's 17" long. With the mp, it's 20 3/4". Sure sounds like D-pitch to me. Very few of those show up.
Regards,
John

It's an Albert with patent C#, without the top two rings, without roller keys. For the price, it might be interesting to check it out. 17" may be about right for the pitch or the D marking might be a worn B. Whatever, you could display it to your friends as a museum-class historical piece. (Don't tell 'em what you paid for it

17" would certainly make it the shortest B-flat (or even B) instrument in history. I'm quite sure this one is D-pitch, unless its bore has truly uncommon construction, such as perhaps a two-inch diameter. Maybe I'm a bit off the beam -- I was hoping someone would want to play this thing. I thought surely there must be a few Albert players out there who lack (and want) D clarinets in their armouries
Regards,
John

Any D clarinet would benefit me. Like having a semitone-alternate for your soprano...

I am an Albert player. I find no need for a D clarinet. I mean, really, what for? Might be an interesting novelty to someone but not really of any practical use today. But, who knows, maybe I've missed something. It wouldn't facilitate sight-transposing at all.
