 Greenline Festival

Francois Kloc came to Woodwind & Brasswind in New York last week to do some of his magic and show off new Buffets. He put out 2 Elites, several Prestige R-13's and 3 Greenline Festivals, which were the stars of the show. No two were quite alike, but all of them were outstanding. Jon Manasse was there, and I think bought the best one on the spot for one of his students.

If you're in the market for a new Buffet, you should definitely try this model.

Best regards.

Hello, Ken. What was the occasion for Francois's visit ... was he giving one of his master classes or was their a show or was it a WW&BW store event? mw

I would love a greenline Festival but don't know where to get one. Does wwandbw carry them?

It really looks like Buffet is getting more and more people to accept this new material. I was very sceptical about hte future of the GL when I bought mine but it seems it's here to stay.

Muncy mailed me three last month to try out. I sent them back, they were free blowing, responsive, dark and rich but had major pitch problems throughout all three ocataves. More in my opinion than even a Brannenizing could fix. I knew I should've taken down the serial #s in case someone asked.

Ouch! 3 with intonation problems floating around out there. Well, at least we know to look out for them. I guess it pays to go to a store and try them out (or have several sent to you).

Brenda -

WW&BW is trying to establish (has established) itself as THE place in NYC for new woodwind instruments. Buffet sends Francois Kloc around the country doing repairs, meeting teachers and pushing its instruments. It's likely that after his last visit about a year ago (where he had to set up in a hotel), WW&BW grabbed the chance to get him into their store. (This isn't anything I know for sure -- just a supposition.)

Mark says that the Festival is not sent to all stores, but only the largest dealers, which is why they're not available from all sources.

The 3 Festivals I played were all well in tune, but I can readily believe that some of them are out. As always, you have to play a bunch of them and pick the best. I would assume that the ones Francois had were specially selected. Certainly he made sure the pads were perfectly seated and the key heights were perfectly adjusted.

Best regards.
