Is it true that an inverted ligatures gives a better response? I have a Vito metal ligature which isn't inverted but i use backwards and to me it gives a better sound and response. Now ,there is another clarinet player in my band doing it so.... I don't know what do you think? thanks.....................corey

i definatly like inverted better. i have never tried flipping a regular one around. on my ligature however, there is a groove where the reed needs to sit.

NO, that's _NOT_ true. rather, the type of ligsture you choose to use is a matter of personal taste, nothing more. best, mw

The major theory regarding "inverted" ligs is that by putting the screws on the back of the mpc, you are pulling the bands against the reed to hold it on rather than squeezing it by tightening the screw on top of the reed. Inverted models, therefore, allow the edges of the reed to resonate more freely, resulting in a more brilliant sound. Good Clarineting.

It all depends on the ligature. I have a regular Bonade that responds better than many inverted ligatures, various makers.
