Hello!
When I first tried to use a strap on my bass clarinet, I noticed that the thumb rest is offset quite a bit from the midline of the clarinet, making that ring on it a challenge to attach my strap to. The ring on the upper joint is a tiny bit too high to use my Yamaha neck strap with, as well. Is there a good strap/ harness I can use with an R13 Prestige from (approximately) the 80's?

Reese,
For several years I have been using both a peg and the Michael Drapkin Bass Stap at the same time. The strap is worn over one shoulder and across the body. This is a very solid and stable platform that can easily be adjusted to suit your needs.

I did change the hook to a snap hook which I re-rigged using parachute cord. The instrument is now very secure.

I also use the Drapkin shoulder strap for bass clarinet.
Seated I use both the strap and a peg like Hank.
It's also working well for me when I stand and play.
I attach it to the single eyelet on the lower section of my low Eb bass.
Saves my neck either way.

I play a Leblanc bass (Eb lowest) sitting down and like the Jazzlab rigid sax harness, with the two curved arms that rest on the shoulders to, stabiize the instrument and free up hands if needed. Very convenient to take on and off.
