Modern Buffet Moennig Barrel on R13 from the 60s?

Will a modern Buffet Moennig Barrel (2023) fit on R13 clarinet from the 60s or has the R13 model changed a lot since then?

I wouldn't see that as an issue at all.

Oddly though, as much as barrels just seem to fit for me across years and models and even brand, there is one old Moennig that a friend of mine had that needed the socket reamed larger to fit my new R13. Well, now the R13 has been sold but I still use that barrel (one of my favorites) on a Leblanc Opus II.

Yes, it will. I played a pre-R13 Buffet with a modern Moennig barrel. It did change the tuning some, but definitely sounded better than the original barrel.

You may need to adjust to the different tuning tendencies.

While a Moennig will fit your older clarinet, a 65mm might sound better than a 66mm. For my 1972 clarinet, a 65mm has its advantages. Anyway, try both.

Why would a 65mm barrel have an advantage over a 66mm one?
I did play the 65mm (which I sold), but I always had to pull the barrel out about 1-2mm.

I have used a Moennig Barrel on my pre-R13 since 1994 with no issues. This was back in the days before WWBW was sold, and my professor told me who to specifically speak to about selecting it for my instrument.

I've used modern Moennig and Chadash barrels on my pre-1960 Buffet with no problems. I've used the same barrels on the Selmer 10Gs (Bb-1972, A-1984) that I still play. So, if you're asking about whether the barrel socket of the new ones fit the tenons of the old ones, the answer seems to be a definite "yes."

Modern Clark Fobes barrels fit my 1963 R13 just as nicely as my 2008 Festival.

Everyone doesn’t have the same embouchure, reed and mouthpiece.
